Malar augmentation is a cosmetic surgical procedure that enhances the appearance of your facial symmetry by using implants or osteotomy. Malar augmentation is made from a variety of materials. Typically the most common one is solid silicone. Malar implants are the most common shape of cheek implants and are placed directly on the cheekbone. The result is more projection in the cheekbone which provides more contour to the side of the face.

In order to properly augment the cheeks, our friendly and educated plastic surgeon will place a solid implant over the cheekbone. We will then inject your own fat or a soft tissue filler, such as Restylane, and create cuts in the zygomatic bone (cheekbone). Malar augmentation can be combined with other procedures such as a face lift or chin augmentation.
